VoiceBlogger Privacy Policy
VoiceBlogger is designed with privacy as a core principle. All AI processing — speech recognition and blog generation — happens entirely on your device. VoiceBlogger has no account of its own. Optional iCloud sync, if you turn it on, stores a private copy in your iCloud.
Data we collect
We collect no personal data. VoiceBlogger has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics.
What stays on your device
The following data is created on your device:
- Voice recordings — audio files captured through your microphone.
- Transcriptions — text generated from your recordings by the on-device Whisper model.
- Blog posts — content generated by the on-device Gemma language model.
- App preferences — settings stored in iOS UserDefaults, such as whether models have been downloaded.
None of this data is transmitted to us. If you leave iCloud sync off, it stays in the app sandbox on that device.
Optional iCloud sync
During setup, and later in Settings, you can choose to sync posts, notes, captions, your personal dictionary, and recordings through your private iCloud to your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. That copy is in your iCloud account, not on a VoiceBlogger server. Speech recognition, writing, and the downloaded AI models stay on each device and are not uploaded.
Turning sync off on a device keeps a local copy there and stops new uploads from that device. Data already in iCloud remains until you delete VoiceBlogger’s iCloud data from the system iCloud settings.
AI models
On first launch, VoiceBlogger downloads two AI model files from Hugging Face. Once downloaded, the models are stored on your device and all inference runs locally. Hugging Face’s privacy policy governs those download requests. If you turn on iCloud sync, the app also talks to iCloud to sync your library.
Permissions
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Microphone | To record your voice for transcription. |
No other device permissions are requested or used.
Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or transmit your data to any third party — because we never receive it in the first place. If you turn on iCloud sync, Apple stores that library in your private iCloud under Apple’s privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
Recordings and blog posts are stored in the app sandbox, and in your iCloud only when you turn sync on. You can delete them at any time from within the app. Uninstalling VoiceBlogger removes the local copy. iCloud data is removed when you delete VoiceBlogger’s iCloud data in system settings.
Children’s privacy
VoiceBlogger does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no data is collected at all, no special handling is required.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and note the change in the app’s release notes.
